About us

The UK Focal Point is based at the Department of Health and the North West Public Health Observatory at the Centre for Public Health, Liverpool John Moores University.  We collate data and information on the drug situation in the UK and report it to the European Monitoring Centre on Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) based in Lisbon.

The UK Focal Point forms part of  the European Information Network on Drugs and Drug Addiction (Reitox) along with Focal Points in the other European Union Member States, Norway and the European Commission.  As a member of Reitox, the UK Focal Point is responsible for undertaking a set of agreed core tasks.  Information on the tasks and activities of the Reitox network can be found on the EMCDDA website

Further information on the specific activities of the UK Focal Point is contained in the areas of work section of this website.

The UK Focal Point has a number of partners who assist us to meet our responsibilities.  These include other government departments, the devolved administrations and experts. Details of our partners can  be found at the front of the Annual Report.
